I was hoping this would solve the issues I had with a different style of night splint for plantar faciitis, but unfortunately this splint has those issues and more.\n\nMy previous splint attached to the top of the foot, but would often slip down during the night pushing my foot down. With the rigid piece on the bottom on this spling, I thought there would be no issues with the foot falling. However, it still slips down during the night, allowing my foot to fall downwards a couple inches. At least it doesn't PUSH my foot down, but it does not hold it at the 90 degree angle even with the additional wedge. Furthermore, and much more frustrating, the velcro on this splint is severely lacking causing the straps to loosen and pop-open multiple times during the night. It is just a thin strip of the stiff side of velcro on each strap, and it only sticks to the fabric of the splint itself, which is not as strong of an attachment as it would be if there was the soft side of the velcro to stick to. To mitigate this issue, I am going to add a lot more velcro to the straps in hopes that it will stick better. (But this still won't resolve the issue with it slipping down.\n\nI recommend tweaking the design of this splint a bit to help it stay in position. Perhaps making the splint narrower at the ankle would allow a tighter fit with the straps. Right now, the splint is so wide in the ankle area that it is impossible to get a snug fit. It leaves a large gap on either side of the ankle. Or, perhaps having the ankle strap come from the center of the splint rather than the outer edges would allow for a more snug fit. Or, positioning the ankle strap lower so it straps around the heal keeping the heal positioned firmly in the bottom corner. And, switching to straps that have a "cinch" would improve ability to get a tighter fit.

I broke both sides of my ankle and ruptured both tendons. It’s excruciating. After a few weeks in a cast, I was fitted with a walking boot that you can't sleep in. So I was left to figure something out and I saw this. Honestly, I didn’t have high hopes. My boot presses on my ankle and it hurts so bad, I figured this would probably do the same but I tried it anyway. It is a game changer!!! It’s secure, easy to put on, holds your foot/ankle still, and even has a toe block to assure you have 90* as prescribed. It is so much more com than the boot and while I wouldn’t wish this injury on anyone, if you are unlucky enough to need this TRY IT! You might actually get some sleep.

I first ordered the small, my toes hung over about 1/2 inch. I bought the medium and I like it. I’ve used it several nights after receiving approval from my physician after leg, ankle, and foot surgery. I’ve used the wedge that is included because it helps to keep my ankle at the optimum 90° angle. The splint overall does a good job holding my foot secure so it doesn’t move around at all while I sleep. If you are considering this item, please realize that if your foot is near the end range of measurements, order a size up.

The boot is extremely comfortable for sleeping as it does not have plastic straps. The wedge is a bit hard and I would prefer if it had an insert pocket for it between the sole and the very bottom, but if you wear a thin soft sock, it feels better.
